Orientations
Richard Gien’s exhibition “Handmade and Handmadeּ will feature contemporary ceramics by American and Japanese artists. Among them are two early 1980’s works, both unglazed and wood-fired, by Uko Morita, a Japanese potter living and working in New York. The first is a mizusashi used in the tea ceremony, while the other is a Bizen-style teapot with silver-grey and black splashes suggesting wabi, the aesthetic of rustic beauty.
