It took me almost two years to assemble an 8th century Chinese bronze ladle and modern hand-crafted wood stand together as one family. I remember, as I was working with Japanese artist Hisashika Takahashi (who worked for renowned American painter Robert Rauschenberg for nearly 40 over years), while he was making white truffle / pasta dinner, he talked about finding this piece of wood under water near an ocean in Japan. He carried it around half of the world, didn’t know what to do with it until then... Though it took him few hours to hand-craft the wood stand, it took almost one half year of thinking... to fit the ladle and stand harmoniously as a complete art form. I must give myself credit for cultivating my patience working with living artists, especially with him.

One fine day, I’d really like to see them sitting in a devoted collector’s living space.
