This Chinese-inspired, gourd-shaped teapot was acquired directly from Uko Morita’s home in the 90s in New York City. It was hand-potted with porcelain-like thin glaze in limited edition in order to maintain the high quality. This teapot has a stone brown colored base; the beautiful pale bluish glaze is gently poured over from the top to the body to create a dripping effect like traditional Japanese “Takatori” glaze. The perfect proportion was carefully and technically potted with water gracefully pouring out in a long lean funnel from the S shape spout when used. One could creatively use this beautiful vessel as a water, sake or wine container as well. It definitely makes a stunning display object in ones interior space. And his works is in both America / Japan. As well as private collections.
